We are excited to announce our long-term partnership agreement with MacLeod Construction Ltd to operate the Achnaba hard rock quarry and the Kilmartin sand and gravel quarry. This expands our commercial quarrying operations to include three hard rock quarries and two sand and gravel quarries across Argyll.
Under this agreement, MacLeod Construction Ltd will retain ownership of both quarries, while A&L McCrae will manage their operations moving forward. We believe this partnership will greatly benefit the Argyll region by enhancing service offerings and reaching a broader market.
We extend our gratitude to the MacLeod family, another long-standing, multi-generational Argyll company, for entrusting us with their quarries. This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for both quarries, and we look forward to working closely with MacLeod Construction Ltd.
This agreement enables us to offer our full range of products across Argyll, including certified aggregates, bagged products, sand and gravel, and certified ready-mix concrete. With this expansion, we will now serve the region from Campbeltown to North Argyll and the islands, handling orders of all sizes with high-quality, high-PSV stone and ready-mix concrete.
Starting December 16th, we will begin commercial operations at both quarries:
- Kilmartin Quarry:
A wash plant will be installed in January to produce a variety of single-size aggregates, washed concrete sand, and washed building sand. - Achnaba Quarry:
A ready-mix concrete plant will be commissioned in January/February, producing all the mixes currently available at our other quarry locations.
To support this expansion, our existing haulage fleet will be enlarged to service the new market area, managed by our experienced and knowledgeable local team based in Argyll.
